TRANSPORTATION
Dating back to 1970 Awiai has consistently been involved in transportation projects starting with the Can Tho road network consisting of 170 km of 4 lane highways from the outskirts of Saigon to the Province of Can Tho in South Vietnam. There were 28 bridges included in this project. Another milestone project was the 138km highway detailed design package in the provinces of Quezon, Batangas and Cavite for the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The firm then expanded its transportation sector to include seaports with the Pangasinan international port and industrial park consisting of International Port and Industrial Zone covers a land area of 370,793 hectares. The conceptual port layout scheme would involve the construction of an initial 900 meters of deep water berths to accommodate container vessel and 750 meters of bathing for bulk carriers with drafts up to 16 meters below MLLW. Additional areas of the project would include: - administrative and maintenance building -custom/immigration and detention building -warehouse and open storage areas (complete with cargo handling equipment) - passenger waiting facilities - fire and security bridges The port projects shall be provided with the necessary: - roads, drainage and sewer systems - electrical lighting and water supply systems - perimeter and security fences - a 10-15 MW power plant. Currently the firm is providing design and build services for a 10 km mountain pass in the Cascade Mountains of Canada.
