In 1971, Awiai was again involved in another USAID-PES sponsored water and wastewater for six provincial cities in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The studies which lead to the creation of the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) was followed by assignments from LWUA itself, for detailed engineering of several waterworks projects in various provincial cities and towns. Completed similar water projects was the U.P. in Visayas Water Supply and Distribution System, in Miag-ao, Iloilo under the auspices of the Department of Education, Culture and Sports, and a feasibility study and detailed engineering package for six more water district systems in Northern and Central Luzon. Other assignments from the Philippine Government included an 18-month Firm Profile Page 3 of 18 Awiai Consultancy to the Department of Local Government and Community Development for their USAID-funded Rural Roads Program, local government and rural infrastructure projects of the USAID/ESFS and USAID/LGIF-PMO, SWIM projects of the National Irrigation Administration, Integrated Area Development Projects of the Bicol River Basin Development Program Office, SWIM and irrigation projects of the Farm Systems Development Corporation.
